R.M. Young ResponseONE

Weather Stations

R.M. Young ResponseONE weather instruments, with solid-state ultrasonic wind sensing and no moving parts. The 91000 anemometer measures wind speed and direction only; the ResponseONE-Pro (93000) weather transmitter adds barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity in one compact unit, superseding the earlier 92000. Internal-compass variants reference wind direction for mobile and marine use.

ModelDescriptionMeasures & specs
93000ResponseONE-Pro weather transmitter (current): ultrasonic wind speed and direction plus barometric pressure, temperature, and relative humidity in one compact unit. A field-replaceable sensor module and filter allow on-site service; SDI-12, NMEA, and ASCII over RS-232 or RS-485. Replaces the discontinued 92000.
93500ResponseONE-Pro weather transmitter with an internal compass that references wind direction for mobile and marine platforms; otherwise identical to the 93000 (wind, barometric pressure, temperature, humidity).
92000Original ResponseONE weather transmitter: ultrasonic wind speed and direction plus barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity; SDI-12, NMEA, and ASCII over RS-232 or RS-485. Discontinued and replaced by the 93000 ResponseONE-Pro.
91000ResponseONE ultrasonic anemometer: wind speed 0-70 m/s and direction only, no moving parts, IP66; SDI-12, NMEA, RMYT, and ASCII over RS-232 or RS-485. Also available in a black housing (91000B).
91500ResponseONE ultrasonic anemometer with an internal compass that references wind direction for mobile and marine platforms; wind speed and direction only, otherwise identical to the 91000 (black housing 91500B).

R.M. Young ResponseONE FAQ

What does each ResponseONE model measure?

The 91000 and 91500 anemometers measure wind speed and wind direction only, using ultrasonic sensing with no moving parts. The weather transmitters (the current 93000/93500 ResponseONE-Pro and the earlier 92000/92500) add barometric pressure, temperature, and relative humidity in the same compact housing. The 92000 has been discontinued and replaced by the field-serviceable 93000.

What is the internal compass in the 91500 and 93500 for?

It references wind direction to geographic north on moving platforms (vehicles, buoys, and vessels), so the reported wind direction stays correct as the platform yaws. It is not a separately logged parameter; it corrects the wind direction the sensor outputs, which is why the compass variants list the same measured parameters as their base models.

How does Thiamis read the ResponseONE, and which parameters are ingested?

The integration polls the sensor over SDI-12 and ingests wind speed, wind direction, temperature, relative humidity, and barometric pressure. The sensor's raw U and V wind-vector components are folded into wind speed. The ResponseONE also offers NMEA, ASCII, and (on the anemometer) the proprietary RMYT output formats over RS-232 or RS-485, but the integration uses SDI-12.

What wind range and accuracy does the ResponseONE provide?

Wind speed range is 0-70 m/s (156 mph) with accuracy of +/-2% or 0.3 m/s below 30 m/s and +/-3% from 30-70 m/s; wind direction is 0-360 degrees, +/-2 degrees. Response time is under 0.25 seconds and resolution is 0.01 m/s for speed and 0.1 degree for direction.

Does the same integration work with the new 93000 ResponseONE-Pro?

Yes. The ResponseONE-Pro reports the same measurement set over the same SDI-12, NMEA, and ASCII protocols as the 92000 it replaces; only the hardware changed, adding a field-replaceable sensor module and filter. No driver change is needed.
